- The 2SP-150H Parallel 2-Spindle CNC Lathe Wins the Japan Machine Tool Manufacturers Award at the 35th Machine Design Awards by Nikkan Kogyo Business & Technology Daily News
- 5 Aug 2005
The 2SP-150H was developed jointly by Okuma and Okuma & Howa Machinery, and
combines the complementary strengths of the two companies. With two horizontal spindles and an
on-board loader, the 2SP-150H can continuously machine first and second operations, making it the
ideal CNC lathe for midvariety, midvolume production of chuck work (automobile parts). The 2SP-150H
introduces various innovations, including a space-saving loader, high rigidity machining using
slideways, and high accuracy machining thanks to a thermally stable structure (OSP control with
Okuma's Thermo-Friendly Concept). Okuma's product development prowess is illustrated by this fourth
consecutive honor, following the Nikkan Shimbun's Top New Product award in 2004 (for MA-H Series of
horizontal machining centers), a 2004 Machine Design Award (for the MU-400VA 5-axis vertical machining
center), and a 2005 Top New Product award (for the intelligent multitasking machine MULTUS B300).
